I decided to become a teacher when I was in 5th grade. After earning my B.A. at UCSB, I completed my teaching credential at CSUN in 1993. I began teaching second grade at Dearborn in 1997. I have taught almost every elementary grade but truly love having only twenty kids in the classroom. In May, 2004, I took my education to the next level and earned a Master's Degree from CSUN in Curriculum and Instruction.
When I am not at Dearborn I love taking my dog to the park, reading a good book while curled up on my sleepy chair, and enjoying good food with friends. My lifelong enjoyment of travel was enhanced in the summer of 2004 when I was accepted to travel as a chaperone with the organization founded by President Eisenhower known as the People to People program (www.studentambassadors.org). I escorted some incredible elementary students to New Zealand and Australia. I followed that up the following year with a trip to England and France escorting middle school students. The summer of 2007 kept me on my home soil as I enjoyed a driving trip through the United States. I saw some extraordinary sights in Colorado, Utah, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Nevada, and Idaho.
My summer fun prepares me for a school year full of hard work and challenges for my class. Some days I walk onto campus and giggle that I am lucky enough to be able to spend each day teaching and doing what I truly love.
