Multicultural Project Fair

 To: Dearborn Parents

From: Dearborn Multicultural Committee

Subject: MULTICULTURAL PROJECT FAIR

The Multicultural Committee is sponsoring Dearborn’s 13th annual Multicultural Project Fair.

Students may choose to do a project about their own cultural background, or a country or culture of interest to them.

Projects submitted may be by individual students and their families, student groups, and/or classes reflecting countries and cultures from around the world.

Projects are due Wednesday morning, January 21, 2009, and should be brought directly to the auditorium.

Projects will be exhibited in the auditorium for viewing, along with an International potluck sampler, on Thursday evening, January 22, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. If you can bring a dish or dessert to share in the international potluck, please bring your food that evening ready to eat in sample size portions. We need all food to be labeled with the name of the dish and the country of origin.

Also, we would like to put together a Multicultural Recipe Book to share with our Dearborn families. Please submit a typed copy of your recipe or e-mail your recipe to carrcy@hotmail.com. Thank you.

Project Guidelines

* Projects may include dioramas, collages, photographs, illustrated reports, models, art, clothing, memorabilia, artifacts, and self-standing poster displays.

* Resources for projects may include books, interviews, travel brochures, magazines, and internet research.

* The size of the display should not exceed 40 inches by 40 inches. All projects will be displayed on tables and must be self-supporting.

* Projects should be labeled with the student’s name, grade, room number, and the name of the culture/country that is being featured in the project.

* Electrical plugs will not be available for the projects.

* All projects must be picked up no later than Friday, January 23, 2009.

We encourage family participation, creativity, and most of all fun!

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please place them in the Multicultural Committee envelope located in the Office, and you will be contacted.
