Dearborn Volunteer Policy 2008-2009
- Thank
you for volunteering. You are an essential part of our program at Dearborn.
- Watch
parking signs. We don’t want you to get a ticket.

Volunteers must fill out a volunteer application and have a current TB test
on file in the school office. Your volunteer packet must be complete and
current in order to volunteer on our campus. Packets are available in the
office.
- Each
time you come to school to volunteer, sign in at the office on your page
in the volunteer book and pick up a volunteer badge.
- The
majority of our volunteer work will be done in our Parent Center. Teachers
will be sending projects and work that can be done by volunteers in the
parent center.
- If your
teacher has a specific project that he/she has requested for you to do,
please check with him/her and get the materials needed, then bring it to the
parent center to work on the project.
- If you
are volunteering in the classroom to work with students, check with the
teacher regarding classroom procedures and how s/he wants you to assist the
students. Please do not interrupt the instructional program.
- You may not bring anyone with you to volunteer, unless you are volunteering only in the Parent Center.
- If you have specific skills or services that you would like to use here at Dearborn, please be sure to share your areas of interest with the Parent Center Director/Volunteer Coordinator or the principal.
- Please
do not use your volunteer time to visit with your child or conference with
the teacher regarding your child.
- Respect
the privacy and confidentiality of students and staff members. Information
that you observe or hear while volunteering is not to be shared with any
other parents or community members.
- At all
times, these rules must be followed:
- Never be alone with a child or touch a child.
- You
may not bring other children with you while volunteering in a classroom.
- If
you witness or hear something of concern, please notify the office
immediately.

PLEASE TURN YOUR CELL PHONES OFF OR ON VIBRATE WHEN YOU ARE WORKING IN A
CLASSROOM OR ARE ON A FIELD TRIP.
- Please
use adult restrooms located in the office or faculty restrooms around
campus, not the boys or girls restrooms.
- Please
ask if you have any questions.
